CEEC shares the announcement of Charlotte Gibson as new MetSoc Minerals Science and Engineering Chair.
The Mineral Sciences and Engineering Section brings together scientists, engineers and academics in Mineral Processing, Mineralogy and other related subjects, with an emphasis on fundamentals, research and development.
She said in an interview with MetSoc: “Over the next year, our plan is to continue to grow our membership, define the types of activities (outreach, technical sessions, workshops etc.) we want to conduct in coming years, establish student awards, and support an Emerging Professional.”
Gibson is one of the organizers of the ‘Towards Sustainable Circularity: Mining to Materials’ symposium at 61st Annual Conference of Metallurgists (COM 2022), which will take place in Montreal, Canada from 21-24 August, 2022. They are looking for abstracts on topics related to mining, mineral processing, metallurgy, and materials with a focus on sustainability and the circular economy. The abstract submission deadline is Friday 7th January, 2022.
She will also be leading a mineral processing symposium at COM 2023, with more details to come.
