Anglo American CEO Mark Cutifani proposed innovation is critical to the mining industry's future success in his speech at the 2013 World Mining Congress recently in Montreal, Canada . A lack of investment in innovation is one of three immediate industry challenges highlighted by Cutifani; the other challenges are social and legislative restrictions on access to resources which are declining in scope and quality, and a lack of lower cost resources leading to higher cost commodity prices.
