The organizers said that this year’s theme revolves around Mining for Future Generations, and that they will be dedicating this year’s convention and expo to demonstrating and shaping what’s next for our industry and community.
The nine technical topics are Transitions: The Digital Platform; Operations; Environment: Reliance & Adaptability; The Value of People: Mining for Talent and Social Forces in Mining; Markets & Finance; Geotechnical; Geology: Mineralizing Systems & Beyond; Protecting our People; and Impact of Processing Advances on Mining Economics.
The opening keynote and plenary speaker on Monday was Beau Lotto, Founder & CEO of Lab of Misfits/Lab of Misfits AR, with a keynote on ‘Thriving Because of Uncertainty’, followed by a multidisciplinary panel discussion on the ‘Future Needs of the Industry’ by esteemed leaders in both the mining and tech fields.
Tuesday’s opening general panel will be on the topic ‘Path to the Future’ and how we need to have a positive impact on all levels of society in mining. On Wednesday, the opening keynote is on the topic ‘Mining Roadmap for Future Generations’ and will cover what is next in the future of mining.
The technical program is being presented in-person at the Vancouver Convention Center as well as in the form of a pre-recorded video on the virtual platform. Registrations are still open for the conference here.

The Canadian Mineral Processors (CMP) 54th annual Canadian Mineral Processors’ Operators Conference, which was originally set to take place in January 2022, was rescheduled to be part of the in-person CIM convention and expo. Registrations for delegates who were already registered for the original CMP Conference have been carried over for the new date and venue.
