Our annual article covers everything from new cell designs & innovations for coarse & fines flotation to general trends & key projects. 

It starts with a review of the new ProProcess Modular Fines Flotation Pilot Plant for Anglo Platinum which is  transportable, cost effective and built for purpose; followed by FLSmidth's plans for a new & improved #WEMCO® #nextGEN™ cell & the latest on the #REFLUX™ cell it developed together with the University of Newcastle's Kevin Galvin. Both technologies will be covered in detail at MEI Conferences' Flotation '21 conference in November. 

Then Glencore Technology on its Jameson Concentrator approach which is increasing recovery with fewer focussed Jameson Cells (named after inventor Laureate Professor Graeme Jameson) at sites like the #Ozernoye zinc mine in Russia. 

On to China's Beijing General Research Institute of Mining & Metallurgy and its involvement in new projects worldwide plus its new intelligent optimised control system (BPM-F) for flotation;  Woodgrove Technologies' rapid rise from start up to industry major with its SFR & DFR technologies plus its latest skid mounted plug & play options; then Russian leader RIVS and its three-chamber flotation machine for the Alexandrinskaya #copper mine. 

It includes a fascinating insight into reactor froth flotation & the central role played by Rainer Dr-Ing Imhof Imhof, one of the co-founders of Maelgwyn Mineral Services Ltd. The Imhof cell that bears his name is seeing great success including most recently at Kalium Lakes Limited’s #Beyondie sulphate of #potash op in WA. 

Metso Outotec's new Concorde Cell™ uses a high-pressure aerated slurry jet through a choke to force the bubbles and particles to attach - developed first by Graeme Jameson to improve ultrafine particle flotation it is being rolled out at BHP's Mount Keith #nickel op as part of a concentrator expansion - the article also includes an in-depth interview with Metso Outotec VP Separation Paul Sohlberg & Alejandro Yáñez, Senior Manager, Concorde Technology. 

Eriez Flotation  Global Managing Director Eric Bain Wasmund reviews the ongoing success of its #HydroFloat® for coarse particle flotation including as part of Newcrest Mining's Cadia mine expansion. Jord International's General Manager of Resources Kevin Barber & Sherwin Morgan detail the #NovaCell™, a third nod in this issue to Graeme Jameson, which has a novel configuration & produces optimal #hydrodynamic conditions for both fine and coarse particle flotation recovery. 

There's also discussion of the first commercial application of the TAKRAF Group #DELKOR BQR flotation cell equipped with the #MAXGen mechanism in India; Clariant's novel collectors for flotation of slimes to increase iron mining sustainability & Solvay's Cube digital solution - state-of-the-art dosing equipment that facilitates more precise blending & dosing control of frother building-block chemicals.
