Last week Procemin 2012 was held in Santiago, Chile. There was a strong eco-efficient comminution theme, with a pre-conference workshop: Eco-Efficiency in Mining: Process Optimisation and Integration with a reduced Ecological Footprint. This workshop was presented by Joachim Vogdt, Environmental Engineer and General Manager IASA Group; Suzan Lynch-Watson, General Manager Consulting, Metso-PTI; and Robert Valle, Manager Latin America, Metso-PTI.
Procemin2012 included more than 60 presentations from 12 countries. Session 9 was dedicated to CEEC Special Session: Eco Efficiency in comminution, and chaired by Cleve Lightfoot, BHPBilliton, Chile. James Connelly of Barrick, Canada presented a paper on "Barrick’s Grinding Efficiency Improvements Through Targeting Performance". Peter Amelunxen of Aminpro, Chile presented on the "Implications of ore hardness variability on comminution circuit energy efficiency", while Ed Rybinski shared an update on the 2012 CEEC Medal winning paper "Optimisation and Continuous improvement of Antamina Comminution Circuit" co authored by Ed Rybinski, Jorge Ghersi, Frank Davila and Javier Linares, Antamina, Peru; Roberto Valle, Metso PTI, Peru.
This was an auspicious occasion on which to present the South American authors of the 2012 CEEC Medal with their awards. From Antamina: Ed Rybinksi, Jorge Ghersi, Frank Davila and Javier Linares while from Metso PTI Roberto Valle. Congratulations to each one!
